Liana you came to the Podcast and new media scene with a vengeance, tell us about your background.

Thank you, Victor. I am so blessed to have been exposed to some of podcastings living legends. Let me back up. My professional career in technology began 20 years ago this August. Stick with me here. I began as an Assistant in the Human Resources department at Disneyland. My job was to scan resumes in to a UNIX-based program called Resumix. Once the resumes were scanned, I went in and manually corrected OCR data. Fun stuff, right? It gets better. I had to learn UNIX to make the corrections. How's that for a how do you do? My career progressed through the years and most recently, I was the Chief Architect for comedian/actor, Damon Wayans. His current project is a web-based comedy network called WayoutTV (at wayouttv.com). Look for it to launch soon. I have been a fan of many podcasts for a long time MBW, TWiT, TWiM and had thought about doing a podcast - a fitness podcast. I have long been a Certified Personal Trainer, another of my passions.

Continuing, early in 2007, I met Alex Lindsay at a Motion Graphics LA meeting, and he invited to me attend Gear Media Tech. At Gear Media Tech, I met Leo Laporte, Scott Bourne, Merlin Mann, Kenji Kato, Roger Chang, and many other tech all-stars who were gathered to teach anyone who would listen everything they knew about new media production in three days. It was awesome. I applied what they taught and continue to do so today.

I say all of this to say, I LOVE technology and fitness and have lots to share. I ended up choosing technology as the focus for my podcasting, because it can be a full-time job on top of a full-time job, if you know what I mean. I still love fitness, and it is a staple in my life. But, you have to pick your battles. I don't claim to know it all, but I want to help others by sharing what I have experienced and know. I listen to you, Victor, and the Typical Mac User Podcast, and I am still learning.

New Media Trends

*

You are a very busy podcaster, video blogger etc, can you talk about the tools you use currently to create your content?

*

We have talked before about ways of making new media trends and attracting new listeners. What are your thoughts and ideas in this area.

It may sound cliche, but being passionate is A-#1. Whatever your passion, you just can't stop talking about. That is the key. Share your passions. Tools like Twitter, Pownce, Utterz, Facebook, MySpace, for example, are just various means to share your passions. These tools cannot be a distraction or something that gets in the way of your being productive. So, I try to Twitter a minimum of once per day about something I am doing. I use Utterz to send my Twitters to several crowds when it is relevant or appropriate.

I learned, during school, to reach out to, or present to people in the ways that will speak to each of them individually. That's why we're doing this, right? We are podcasting for our audience and not ourselves. So, we need to reach them through our speaking (audio podcasts and live presentations, Talkshoe), visuals (video or still images), touch (be accessible), then there are taste and smell. For obvious reasons, we can't do that to a large group of people. I hope I don't smell so "fragrant" that a large crowd can identify me by scent. (LOL).

Using Macs it's so easy for us to produce new media content what advice to you have for the listener who may be listening and saying I want to be a part of that?

MACBOOK AIR GOOD RANT (VICTOR)

A: Victor will talk about his point of view on the MacBook Air and how it's seem to have taken a turn for the better. When it first came out people were saying it's not powerful enough , it does not have an ethernet port, it does not have access to the baterry etc. I said some of those things too. The on line media and Mac community seemst to get on the band wagon of agreement with those of us who pontificate on these thigns.

However just lask week I've seen several articles including a piece by John Groover of Daring Firebalhttp://daringfireball.net/2008/02/macbook_air_appeal where he states that he was wrong about his first impressions and that although he does not plan to buy one he QUOTE "I was wrong that the Air was designed to be a secondary machine. It certainly is a compelling secondary machine for anyone whose primary machine is an iMac or Mac Pro, but for many people, the MacBook Air will serve just fine as their one and only computer."

I tend to agree with John and while at the Apple Store this week to get my Cinema display fixed I saw three MBA being sold in one hour.

So I think it's going to be a big hit and only get better, I do however feel that we as a media community and I 'll include myself here are sometimes too quick to judge a product and many of us get in the "ME TOO" band wagon. I think there been a shift and we are going to see much better press about this product.

Leana what are your thoughts on the AIR?

What are the feeling of the listeners in the room about the MBA now that it's been out for a little While?

B  What about the Apple TV Take 2 What do We Think?

Victor: I think the resolution is fine and looks good. I don't agree that you DON'T need a computer to use it you do. I want to give props to Michelle Countrysigns for being smart and asking right away about the Apple TV's ability to open an iTunes Account using the ATV without a computer. She was right you CAN-NOT do this. I know Michael King had reported that he had gotten a ATV 2 and that you would but that just was not the case and I won't explain why, but the point is that I think they have more work to do on ATV2 and they will.

Leana what are your thoughts on the ATV2?

What are the feeling of the listeners in the room about the ATV2 update?

IF WE HAVE TIME FOR THIS: Apple in 2008 time to pontificate about all things Apple and Mac in 2008

A: regarding their tendency towards wireless

B: What is coming in the iPhone space in the next year

C: What will they be doing in the iMac and Laptop space given that they have applied for patents that seem to indicate a move toward an all in one "with a dock" desktop and Laptop unit?
